Cultivation Overview

Admin Manager

Use this page to get your bearings in Cultivation: what it tracks, where things are, and what to set up first.

At a glance

  • Cultivation tracks your grow from mother plant to a product on your shelf — clones, batches, harvests, and what each gram cost you to grow.
  • Find it under Cultivation in the admin menu (admins and managers). A row of tabs runs across every page; set-up pages sit under More.
  • A batch is a group of plants moving through the phases together: Clone → Veg → Flower → Harvest → Dry → Cure → Done.
  • A finished harvest is transferred to inventory and becomes stock you can sell at the register.
  • The Dashboard is your morning check-in: batches per phase, room status, tasks due and upcoming harvests.
  • Set up in this order: Strains, then Rooms, then Mothers. Cultivation appears once it's switched on for your store.

More detail: what Cultivation is and turning it on

Cultivation is Brother POS's seed-to-sale grow tracker. It follows your plants from the mother they were cut from, through veg and flower, into drying and curing, and finally onto your shelves as a product you can sell at the register. Because the grow and the till live in the same system, you can see what a strain cost you to grow per gram and what it actually sold for.

Switched on per store

Cultivation is turned on for your store by Brother POS support — it is not a toggle in your own settings. Once it's on, Cultivation appears in the admin navigation for Admin and Manager users. The optional Processing tab (extraction, pre-rolls, edibles) is switched on separately. See Feature Flags for how store-level features work.

More detail: how the section is laid out

How the Section Is Laid Out

Every Cultivation page has the same row of tabs across the top. The ones you use every day are out front; set-up and occasional pages sit under More.

Below those, More also links straight to the everyday logging pages: Input / Feeding Log, Quick Input Log, Feed a Room and Quick Environment Reading — plus Processing Supplies and Processing Supply Log when Processing is on. See Tasks, Inputs and Feed Recipes and Processing.

When you open a page from More, it shows as a tab while you're on it, so you always know where you are.

More detail: the grow, start to finish

The Grow, Start to Finish

Here's how the pieces connect. Each step has its own page in this section.

  1. Strains — the genetics you grow (e.g. Pink Kush), with typical veg and flower days.
  2. Rooms — your mother, clone, veg, flower, dry, cure and storage rooms, optionally divided into tables.
  3. Mothers — the mother plants you take cuttings from.
  4. Clones — each round of cuttings. Every cutting gets its own plant tag.
  5. Batches — a group of plants moving through the phases together: Clone → Veg → Flower → Harvest → Dry → Cure → Done.
  6. Harvests — the weights you took off a batch (wet, dry, trim, waste, final) and what it cost per gram.
  7. Transfer to Inventory — the harvest becomes stock on a product, ready to sell at the register.

Along the way you log Inputs (nutrients, soil, pest control) against batches, schedule Tasks, and record room Environment readings. Inputs and room running costs roll up into each harvest's cost per gram.

Where to start

Set up in this order: Strains, then Rooms, then Mothers. After that you can take your first clones, or — if you're starting from plants you already have — create a batch directly on the Batches tab.

More detail: the Cultivation dashboard

The Cultivation Dashboard

Cultivation → Dashboard is your morning check-in.

Growth Pipeline

Six cards, one per phase — Clone, Veg, Flower, Harvest, Dry and Cure — each showing how many active batches are in that phase right now. A pile-up in one card (say, five batches in Flower and nothing in Veg) is an early warning of a gap in your harvest schedule.

Room Status

Every active room, sorted by room type, with how many batches are in it and — if you set a Max Capacity on the room — how full it is, for example 92% full. The percentage turns yellow above 70% and red above 90%. View All opens the Rooms tab.

Tasks Due

Up to ten unfinished tasks that are due today or already overdue, most urgent first. Urgent and High tasks carry a badge, and overdue ones say how late they are. Click Done to tick a task off without leaving the dashboard. View All opens the Tasks tab.

Upcoming Harvests

The next ten batches in Flower that have an expected harvest date, soonest first, with the strain, room, current plant count and days left. Anything seven days out or less is highlighted. View Batches opens the Batches tab.

Top Strains by Yield

Your five strains with the most grams harvested, with how many harvests, the total weight and the average cost per gram. Only harvests that have been transferred to inventory count, so this stays empty until you've finished your first harvest.

More detail: the grow room display

The Grow Room Display

Brother POS also has a full-screen room display meant for a tablet mounted in the grow room. It isn't in the admin menu — open it by going to your store's web address followed by /grow_display (for example yourstore.brotherpos.ca/grow_display) while signed in.

  • The first screen lists your active rooms with batch and plant counts, the latest temperature and humidity, and how long since the last feed. It has a Fullscreen button.
  • Tap a room to see its latest readings (coloured against the room's target ranges), this week's morning and afternoon readings, tasks due with a Done button, its tables, recent inputs and notes.
  • Staff can Log Reading (temperature, humidity, CO2) and use Quick Feed Log, which logs one input to every active batch in that room at once.
