Facilities, Rooms and Environment
Use this page to set up your grow rooms (and, if you run more than one site, your facilities) and to log temperature, humidity and CO2 readings.
Quick steps
To add a room:
- Go to Cultivation → Rooms and click New Room.
- Type a Name (for example Flower Room A) and pick a Room Type: Mother, Clone, Veg, Flower, Dry, Cure or Storage.
- Fill in Max Capacity (how many plants it holds) and, under Daily Overhead Costs, the Daily Electricity Cost ($) and Daily Labor Cost ($).
- Click Create.
To log a reading:
- Go to Cultivation → More → Environment and click Quick Log (or New Reading for the full form).
- Pick the Grow Room, type the Temperature (F), Humidity (%) and CO2 (ppm), and save. VPD is worked out for you.
Fill in the two daily cost boxes, even roughly. They feed straight into each harvest's cost per gram.
Common questions
Do I need Facilities? Only if you run more than one site. A single site can skip them.
My dry room isn't offered when I record a harvest. Only rooms with the type Dry or Cure are listed there. Edit the room and check its type.
Do I have to use tables? No. Tables are optional — they only track exactly where each plant sits.
More detail: facilities
Rooms are the backbone of Cultivation. Every batch lives in a room, every room can have a daily running cost that rolls into your cost per gram, and every environment reading belongs to a room. Facilities sit above rooms and record your licensed sites.
Facilities
Cultivation → More → Facilities lists your sites — a greenhouse, an indoor grow, a processing lab. Click New Facility to add one.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | What you call the site, e.g. Main Grow Facility. Must be unique. |
| Code | A short code, e.g. FAC-001. Must be unique. |
| Facility Type | Greenhouse, Indoor, Outdoor, Processing or Warehouse. |
| Area (sqft) | Optional. |
| License number | Your licence number for the site. |
| Active | Untick to retire a site without deleting it. |
| Location | Address, City, Province, Postal code. |
| Contact | Contact name and contact phone. |
| Notes | Anything else. |
Each facility card shows its room, batch and plant counts and has a Dashboard button with its own rooms, tasks due in the next week, recent environment readings and recent harvests.
You assign each room to a facility (see Room details). Everything in that room follows it: batches, mothers, clone batches, tasks and environment readings take the facility of their room, and a harvest takes the facility of its dry/cure room, or its batch's facility if it has no room. Move a room to another facility and its records move with it. Processing batches and processing supplies pick their facility on their own forms (see Processing).
Once you have more than one active facility, a Facility picker appears at the top of the Cultivation dashboard and pages like Rooms, Batches, Mothers, Clones, Tasks, Environment and Harvests, and narrows them to that facility. Anything in a room with no facility only shows under All Facilities.
If you run a single site you can skip Facilities entirely — nothing else depends on them.
More detail: rooms, targets and daily costs
Rooms
Cultivation → Rooms lists every grow space with its type, area, capacity (Cap) and how many batches are in it. Click New Room to add one.
Room details
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | Required, e.g. Flower Room A. |
| Code | Optional short code, e.g. FRA-01. |
| Facility | Shown once you have a facility. Which site the room is in — see Facilities. |
| Room Type | Required. Mother, Clone, Veg, Flower, Dry, Cure or Storage. |
| Area (sqft) | Optional. |
| Max Capacity | How many plants the room holds. Fill this in to get the "% full" figure on the dashboard and the room's Occupancy. |
| Notes | Anything else about the room. |
| Active | Untick to hide the room from pick lists without deleting it. |
The room type matters in one place: when you record a harvest, the Room (Dry/Cure) list only offers rooms whose type is Dry or Cure.
Environment targets
Optional ideal ranges for the room: Temperature (°F), Humidity (%) and VPD (kPa), each with a Min and Max. On the grow room display (see Cultivation Overview), readings inside the range show as good and readings outside it are flagged.
Daily overhead costs
| Field | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Daily Electricity Cost ($) | What it costs to run the room for a day — lights, HVAC, dehumidifiers. |
| Daily Labor Cost ($) | The labour you'd charge to the room per day. |
These feed straight into harvest costs. For every phase a batch spends in a room, Brother POS adds that room's daily electricity and labour cost times the number of days. A batch that spent 60 days in a flower room costing $25 + $50 a day picks up $4,500 of overhead, which is spread across the harvest's final grams.
Your cost per gram is only as good as these two fields. An estimate from last month's power bill is far more useful than leaving them blank.
Inside a room
Click a room to see its Current Batches, Current Plants and Occupancy (plants in the room as a share of Max Capacity), its tables, the batches in it with their phase and days in phase, and its last ten environment readings.
More detail: tables and the table grid
Tables
Tables let you track exactly where each plant sits — Table 2, row 3, position 5. They're optional; batches work fine without them.
To add one, open the room and use the form under Tables:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Number | Required. A whole number, e.g. 1. |
| Name (optional) | e.g. Cloner #1. |
| Rows | How many rows of plants. |
| Positions | How many plants per row. |
Click Add Table. Each table card shows how many live plants it holds out of its capacity.
Click a table to open its Table Grid — a map of every spot, showing which plant tag is where and which spots are Empty. You'll also see its Capacity, Alive Plants, Available Spots and any Unplaced plants (assigned to the table but without a spot yet). Click a plant to open it, or click Dead next to it to mark it dead.
If a table has no row and position counts, there's no grid to show and new clones on it won't be given spots automatically. Set both to get the map.
To remove a table, use the remove button on its card in the room.
More detail: environment readings
Environment Readings
Cultivation → More → Environment is your log of room conditions.
Logging a reading
Click New Reading for the full form, or Quick Log for a phone-friendly version you can fill in while standing in the room.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Grow Room | Required. |
| Recorded At | Required. Defaults to now. Quick Log has no time box — it stamps the time you opened the form. |
| Temperature (F) | In degrees Fahrenheit. |
| Humidity (%) | 0 to 100. |
| CO2 (ppm) | A whole number. |
| Light Status | On or Off. |
| Notes | Anything you noticed. |
You don't enter VPD — when a reading has both temperature and humidity, Brother POS works out the VPD for you.
Reviewing readings
The Environment page lists the most recent 100 readings with room, temperature, humidity, CO2, VPD, light and who logged it. Filter by Room, Date From and Date To.
More detail: troubleshooting and good habits
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause and fix |
|---|---|
| A room isn't in the Harvest's room list | Only Dry and Cure rooms are offered there. Check the room type. |
| Occupancy is blank | The room has no Max Capacity. |
| Harvest cost per gram looks too low | The rooms the batch passed through have no daily electricity or labour cost. Add them, then edit and save the harvest to recalculate. This only works while the batch is still in Flower or Harvest and the harvest hasn't been transferred — see Harvests. |
| VPD is blank on a reading | The reading is missing either temperature or humidity. |
| Table has no grid | Set its Rows and Positions. |
Best Practices
- Create a room for every stage you use, including dry and cure, so batches can be moved room to room as they advance.
- Set Max Capacity on every room so you can see at a glance where there's space.
- Log readings at the same times every day — morning and afternoon — so trends are easy to spot.

- Batches and Plants — start moving plants through the phases.
- Harvests — how room costs show up in cost per gram.
