AI Resale Intake and Pawn Offers

Admin Manager Cashier

Use this page to photograph a second-hand item and let Brother POS suggest a title, prices and how well it sells on eBay — then add it to inventory.

Quick steps

In the admin (make a product from a photo):

  1. Go to Products and click AI Intake.
  2. Add the Item photo (drag it in or choose a file), then click Analyze with AI. Or click Use my phone (scan QR) and take the photo with your phone.
  3. Under Review & create, check the Title, Description, Price (CAD) and Categories.
  4. Click Create product.

At the register (decide what to offer):

  1. Tap Pawn offer / eBay lookup in the top bar (the price-tag icon).
  2. Tap Take / upload photo, then Look up on eBay.
  3. Check the Suggested offer (40–60% of resale). If you buy it, enter What you paid (cost) and Sell for, pick a Category and tap Buy it & add to inventory. If not, tap Done — just looking.
warning

Buy it & add to inventory doesn't take money out of the cash drawer. Record the payout the way your store normally does.

Common questions

The eBay matches look wrong. Edit the search words in the box (add the model number, remove a colour) and click Re-search.

The item is broken or for parts. Open Add details before you add the photo and say so. A non-working item is priced far lower.

I don't see AI Intake. It's a separate add-on and appears once it is switched on for your store.

More detail: where it appears

For second-hand and pawn shops, Brother POS can look at a photo of an item and tell you what it is, what it tends to sell for, and how quickly it sells on eBay. Use it to decide what to offer across the counter, and to turn an item into a product without typing out a listing.

For second-hand and pawn shops, Brother POS can look at a photo of an item and tell you what it is, what it tends to sell for, and how quickly it sells on eBay. Use it to decide what to offer across the counter, and to turn an item into a product without typing out a listing.

It comes in two places:

  • AI Intake in the admin — build a product listing from a photo.
  • Pawn offer / eBay lookup on the register — look an item up while the customer waits, and optionally buy it into inventory.
This is a separate add-on

AI resale intake works once it is switched on for your store. It is separate from pawn loans — a store can have either one, or both.

More detail: what the AI gives you

What the AI Gives You

After you add a photo, Brother POS returns:

  • A title and description for the listing, which you can edit.
  • Price suggestions in Canadian dollars (admin only) — Retail, Sale, Open-box and Refurb. Click one to put it in the price box.
  • Sold listings from eBay — how many sold (Sold), the Median sold price and how many sold in the last 30 days (30-day). Prices are shown in the currency they sold in, with a converted amount beside them.
  • A saleability score from 0 to 100:
ScoreLabel
75–100Hot — sells fast
50–74Good — steady demand
25–49Slow — niche demand
1–24Cold — rarely sells
0No data

Under the score are the reasons, for example "12 sold in the last 30 days · 40 comparable sales found".

The search Brother POS ran on eBay is shown in an editable box. If the matches look wrong, change the words (add the model number, remove a colour) and click Re-search. Re-searching only refreshes the eBay results; it doesn't re-read the photo.

Tell it what the photo can't show

Both screens have an optional Add details section: the item or model name if you know it, condition notes ("powers on, no charger"), the overall quality and whether it works. A "For Parts" or non-working item is priced far lower, so these notes matter.

More detail: AI Intake in the admin, step by step

AI Intake in the Admin

  1. Go to Products and click AI Intake. The page is titled AI Resale Intake.

  2. Optionally open Add details and fill in Item / model name, Condition notes, Overall quality (New in Box, Like New, Good, Fair, For Parts) and Powers on / works?.

  3. Add the Item photo by dragging and dropping it or choosing a file, then click Analyze with AI.

Or click Use my phone (scan QR), scan the code and take the photo with your phone. The analysis then starts on its own as soon as the photo arrives — so fill in Add details before you take the photo.

  4. Under Review & create, check the Title, Description, Price (CAD) and Categories. The category closest to the AI's suggestion is ticked for you (or Uncategorized if nothing matches) — change it if it's wrong.

  5. Click Create product.

The product is created, for sale, with the photo attached. Set its cost and stock on the product page if you need them.

On an existing product

When the add-on is on, a product's edit page also has an AI Resale Analysis panel on its Advanced tab, with an Analyze for resale button. It runs the same analysis on the product's own photo, so the product needs a photo first — otherwise you'll see "This product has no photo to analyze. Upload one first."

More detail: pawn offers at the register

Pawn Offer at the Register

The register's top bar has a Pawn offer / eBay lookup button (a price-tag icon). The window, titled Pawn Offer — eBay Lookup, says: "Photograph the item to see what it sells for on eBay and make a fair offer."

  1. Optionally open Add details — item or model, condition notes, Quality (Like New, Good, Fair, For Parts) and Works?.

  2. Tap Take / upload photo, then tap Look up on eBay.

Or tap Use my phone (QR) on a fixed tablet and take the photo with your phone. The lookup starts on its own when the photo arrives, so add any details first.

The results show the saleability score, the editable title and description, the eBay figures and up to five recent sold listings (tap one to open it on eBay).

When there's a median sold price, the window also shows a Suggested offer (40–60% of resale). For an item with a $200 median, that's $80 – $120. It is shown in the same currency as the eBay sales.

Buying it into inventory

If you buy the item, enter What you paid (cost) and Sell for, pick a Category, and tap Buy it & add to inventory. The product is created for sale with that cost and price. If you leave Sell for blank, the AI's suggested sale price is used.

If you don't buy it, tap Done — just looking. Nothing is saved, so you can look up as many items as you like.

This does not pay the customer

Buy it & add to inventory records what you paid as the product's cost. It doesn't take any money out of the cash drawer. Record the payout the way your store normally does, so the drawer balances at close.

How It Connects to Pawn Loans

Forfeited pawn items go into inventory with no price (see Forfeit to inventory). They arrive without a photo. If your store also has AI resale intake, open the forfeited product, add a photo of the item, save, and then use Analyze for resale to get price suggestions before you shelve it.
