Site Map
Use this page to put your sites on a picture of your property and see at a glance which are free, occupied or being cleaned.
Quick steps
- Click Lodging, then the Site Map tab (a hotel's says Floor Plan).
- Click Choose Image and pick a JPG, PNG or WebP picture of your property.
- Click Edit Pins. If your sites already exist, click Pin my existing sites to have them placed for you (it takes 30 to 60 seconds).
- For any left under Unplaced Units, click the site's button, then click its spot on the map. Drag a pin to move it.
- Click Done Editing. Use the Type: and Status: filters to see which sites are free or occupied.
Detect & create sites makes a new site for every number it can't match, so you can end up with a second copy of every site. Use Pin my existing sites instead.
Common questions
I can't see any pins. Pins stay hidden until you hover over a site, pick a filter, or click Edit Pins.
How do I take a pin off the map? In edit mode, hold Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) and click the pin, then confirm.
My map is a PDF. Only PNG, JPEG and WebP pictures are accepted. Save the PDF as a picture first.
Can I swap the picture later? Yes. Change Map Image keeps the pins where they are. Remove Map deletes the picture and every pin, but not your sites.
More detail: uploading and placing your sites
The Site Map puts your sites on a picture of your property — the campground map from your brochure, a hotel floor plan, a sketch of your cabins. Once each site has a pin, you can see at a glance where everyone is, filter to the free or occupied sites, and click straight through to a site or its guest.
Open Lodging → Site Map. (A hotel's tab says Floor Plan, a resort's Resort Map, and motels, B&Bs and vacation rentals say Property Map.)
Uploading Your Map
The first time, the page shows Upload Your Site Map. Click Choose Image and pick a JPG, PNG or WebP picture of your property — any size. Most campgrounds already have one in their brochure or on their website.
Once it uploads, the page says "Site map image uploaded. Click 'Edit Pins' to place your units on the map."
Placing Your Sites
Click Edit Pins at the top of the page. A blue bar appears under the map: "Edit Mode — Click the map to place pins. Drag existing pins to move them." All the pins become visible.
By hand
Under Unplaced Units is a button for every site that is not on the map yet.
- Click a site's button.
- Click the spot on the map where that site is. The pin appears and is saved straight away, and the button disappears from the list.
To move a pin, drag it to its new spot and let go — it is saved when you drop it. Save Positions saves any moves again in one go; it says "No changes to save." if there is nothing new.
To take a pin off the map, hold Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) and click it, then confirm "Remove [site] from the map?". The site goes back to the Unplaced list.
Click Done Editing when you are finished.
Adding sites while you place them
Quick Add Sites in the edit bar creates sites without leaving the map: choose the Site Type, a Start #, a Count and a Prefix, then click Create. The page reloads with the new sites in the Unplaced list, ready to place. It works like Bulk Create on the Sites tab — see Site Types & Sites.
Letting Brother POS find them
Two buttons in the edit bar read your map for you. Each takes 30 to 60 seconds.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Pin my existing sites | Finds the site numbers printed on your map and pins each one onto your site with that number — a 15 on the map matches a site named "15", "Site 15" or "site-15". Nothing new is created. Numbers on the map with no matching site are listed in the message afterwards, and so are any site-type names on the map that match none of yours. |
| Detect & create sites | Does the same, and also creates a site — and a site type, if needed — for every number it cannot match. |
When it finishes, a message says what happened, for example "Placed 38 sites on the map, created 4 new." If it cannot read the map it says "Analysis failed: ... You can still place pins manually."
Detect & create sites makes a new site for anything it cannot match to one you have, so on a map where your sites are named differently you can end up with a second copy of every site. If you already have sites, it warns you first. Any site type it creates starts at a $50 base nightly rate and 6 guests — go to Site Types and set the real prices before you take bookings.
Placing a pin never changes a site's type, name or status — only where it sits on the map.
More detail: reading the map
Reading the Map
Each site type has its own colour, shown in the key above the map, and every pin is coloured by its site type.
To keep the map readable, pins stay hidden until you need them:
- Hover over a site to see its pin and a label with its name and, if a guest is checked in, the guest's name.
- Pick a filter and the matching pins show.
- In edit mode, every pin shows.
Filters
| Filter | Choices |
|---|---|
| Type: | All, or one site type. |
| Status: | All, Occupied (with the number of guests checked in), Available, Cleaning, Maintenance. |
Clicking a pin
Outside edit mode, clicking a pin opens the checked-in guest's reservation if the site is occupied, or the site's own page if not.
Changing a site's type from the map
The label that appears when you hover over a site includes a dropdown of your site types. Choosing a different one changes that site's type straight away — the dropdown flashes green when it has saved.
The counts
Under the map, five boxes count your sites: Available, Occupied, Cleaning, Maintenance and Total. The bottom corner of the map says how many sites are placed, for example "38/42 units placed on map".
More detail: changing or removing the map
Changing or Removing the Map
At the bottom of the map:
- Change Map Image uploads a new picture. Pins keep their positions, measured as a share of the picture's width and height — so a new picture of the same layout lines up, but a differently drawn one needs the pins moved.
- Remove Map deletes the picture and every pin, after you confirm "Remove the site map image and all pin positions?". Your sites are not touched.
More detail: troubleshooting and best practices
Troubleshooting
I can't see any pins. Pins are hidden until you hover, pick a filter or click Edit Pins. Pick Type: All with a status filter to show them.
A site is missing from the Unplaced list. Sites that have been switched off (Active unticked) do not appear on the map at all.
Pin my existing sites left many numbers unmatched, or placed nothing. It matches on the number in the site's name. Rename the sites to include the number printed on the map, or place those pins by hand. It also reads the site-type names on the map and matches them to yours ignoring capitals and spaces — "rv sites" matches "RV Sites". A type name that matches none of yours is listed in the message, but the sites under it are still pinned by their own names. Check the Unplaced Units list and place whatever is left by hand.
The upload was refused. Only PNG, JPEG and WebP pictures are accepted — "Invalid file type. Please upload a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image." Save a PDF map as a picture first.
Best Practices
- Use the clearest map you have — the larger and sharper the site numbers, the better the automatic placing works.
- Create your sites first, then run Pin my existing sites, and place whatever it misses by hand.
- Check the map at the start of a busy day with the Occupied filter to see where your guests are.
