Training Courses in the App
Brother POS has three short courses that teach on the real screens, using your store's own products. A card in the corner gives one job at a time, moves on when you've done it, and Show me points at the button to press. It's practice: nothing is saved, charged or printed while a course runs, and an orange frame round the screen shows it's on.

When someone finishes a course without skipping a lesson, it shows on the staff page: Settings → Manage Users, Training column (Register, Manager or Owner).
Cashier training (register)
The Training button (a graduation cap) is hidden until you turn it on, one device at a time, so it isn't in everyone's way once your staff are trained.
- On the register, tap the gear (Settings) button in the top bar.
- Under Display Settings, tick Show training button in header.
- Tap Save Settings. The Training button appears in the top bar.
- Tap Training, then Start training. The register needs an empty cart to start.
Untick the box again when you no longer want the button on that device.
The lessons pick items from your own catalog and leave out anything your store doesn't do (no items sold by weight, ID check turned off, and so on):
- Find an item and add it, and change the quantity
- Sell an item by weight — it asks for a specific weight
- Pick a size or option
- Sign up a new customer — a made-up person, so no real customer record is created
- Give a discount (10% off the whole order)
- Hold an order and bring it back
- Check ID, when your store asks for it
- Take cash and give change — the sale finishes with the practice customer attached
- Look up a returning customer by name and phone number
During the course, card payments, gift cards, store credit, drawer counts and anything else that would change real records is turned off. Cash is the only way to pay, and the practice sale isn't saved.
Manager training (back office)
Open your account menu (your name or email, top right) and click Manager training, then Start training. Lessons your role can't do, or features your store doesn't use, are left out and listed on the first screen.
- Find a product
- Add a new product three ways: the Add New Product form, Quick Add (stores that price by quality tier) and a new product typed onto a purchase order
- Change a price
- Set up tier prices (Tier Pricing, for stores that price by quality tier)
- Put items on sale with a sales campaign
- Receive stock
- See your sales, close out the day (Daily Close) and check what's running low
- Check a closed till
- Look up a customer
- Add a staff member (admins)
Saving is paused while the course runs: when a lesson says to press Save, Create or Add, the press is stopped and the lesson moves on.
Owner training (owner portal)
For people who own more than one store. On the owner dashboard click Owner training (or use your account menu), then Start training.
- Compare your stores on the dashboard, over a date range you pick
- Run reports across all your stores
- Open one store's own back office with Enter Store
- See stock in every store at once
- Move stock between stores with a stock transfer
- Give someone a role at each of your stores
The stock lessons need at least two stores. As with the other courses, nothing is saved.
Common questions
Can I stop partway? Yes. Press the × on the card. Your work so far isn't recorded, and saving comes back on straight away.
It says a lesson isn't included. Your role can't do it, or your store doesn't use that feature. The first screen lists each one with the reason.
Does it count as finished if I skip lessons? No. It's only recorded when every lesson that applies was done. Run it again whenever you're ready.
I don't see the Training button on the register. It's off until you turn it on on that device: gear (Settings) → Show training button in header → Save Settings.
